Beginner Belly Dance

An 8-week (10 hour) introduction to belly dance; taught by Kashmir in South Brighton, Christchurch.

This course requires no previous experience in any type of dance or more fitness than being able to climb a flight of stairs to the studio. Bellies need not be bared but we dance in (clean) bare feet - or indoor only shoes – and comfortable clothes (but preferably not loose skirts or baggy pants).

Over the 8 weeks you will learn not only how to move your body in mysterious ways but begin a journey of discovery into what makes "belly dance" belly dance and some of the history and culture associated with it.

At the end of the course, if enough students wish to continue, there is a follow up course which extends and reinforces the movement vocabulary in the introductory course.

At this stage Wednesday 7-8:15pm appears to be the best fit for people. A Wednesday 7-8:15pm course will start on 13 February providing at least three students have paid by Monday the 11th. (Enrol via www.bellyraqs.co.nz or PM Kashmir for banking details).

Other times are possible again with a minimum of three pre-paid students two days in advance of the first night.
