Opening of Artist Books Exhibition Thinking _ Unfolding

Artist books evolved in the mid-20th Century when artists began experimenting with the book format as a means to express their ideas.

Using traditional printmaking techniques, selected members of Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand explore and expand the possibilities that make an art object an ‘artist’ book.

Opening & Announcement of Awards & Talk by Selector Paul Thompson
Saturday, 2 November, 1pm

Paul Thompson: curator, collector, author, artist, zook inventor. Formerly the Director of the Museum of Wellington. He also hand-makes books and works that are conceived as art objects in themselves and are bought by collectors, curators or connoisseurs, nationally and internationally. He also works with Wai-te-Ata Press initiating publications that explore typographical and structural boundaries.

PCANZ is a member run, national, non profit organisation that promotes contemporary fine art printmaking. Through workshops, exhibitions, collaborations and exchanges between members and national and international associations, we foster a greater appreciation of printmaking among our members and the wider community.
