This summer the Alpaca Social Club launches its first album, a diverse collection of world music genres including arabic, celtic, funk soul and gypsy jazz.
The concept of the ASC is to be a collaboration of kindred musical souls performing the music they love from wherever that comes.
The two musicians at its core are piano accordionist Craig Denham and bassouki/guitarist Jon Sanders. After 5 years of writing material and worldwide touring, they have created this collection of 12 original and cover tracks, recorded in the Czech Republic in October and November 2017.
The Alpaca Social Club has gained a unique notoriety through its touring in diverse locations from festivals like WOMAD to Stewart Island (south of New Zealand’s South Island) and the fans have described their live show as “a pyrotechnic display of dazzling virtuosity” and “a quantum leaping musical curiosity”, playing with skill, humour, passion and adventure.
Jon is a leading exponent of the bassouki, guitar, ukelele and vocals while Craig is a recognised force in accordion and piano performance as well as low whistle, vocals and percussion.
Through clever composition and combination of their sound and instruments they are able to create a sonic landscape that belies the size of the band!
