In Dame Fiona's words: "The world is full of stories and no life is ordinary if we know how to ask the right questions of ourselves. My journey has taken me the length and breadth of New Zealand, discovering what makes our people and landscape fascinating, and turning this information into fictions, with an emphasis on our history. But characters, people and their everyday dramas, are what really illuminate narrative, whether it be personal memoir, a woman taken captive in 19th century New Zealand, a boy from Belfast who comes here and makes a dreadful mistake, or women finding their voices."

This will be a session to treasure.

This is an event involved in the Featherston Booktown Festival on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May celebrating everything to do with books, writers and reading. The three-day programme includes writing workshops; poetry readings; talks by leading authors and illustrators; and a book fair including stalls with rare and second-hand books. There are also events specifically for children.

Take a look at our website for the full programme of events.
