The 5 Star Comedy Preview

A Taste of things to come!
Director of comedy.co.nz productions, Scott Blanks has been producing international guest acts at the annual NZ International Comedy festival since 1993 and the 5 Star Comedy Preview has become a very hot ticket, a chance to get a taste of this year’s line-up of guest acts, including a number of fresh faces, before they get down to funny business.

For many of the performers it is their first Kiwi audience and, combined with a bit of jet lag, can make for some fabulous unscripted, spontaneous moments of hilarity.

In 2019 we feature the return of Canadian Scotsman, Phil Nichol, both an Edinburgh Fringe and NZ Comedyfest legend, who has made more than an impression on performers and audiences, alike, on 4 previous visits. He is joined by Lauren Pattison and Ian Smith from England, who both made their NZ debut in 2018 and have been invited back by festival demand, to present their brand new shows.

Fresh faces to NZ this year include, from England, Paul Sinha, a.k.a ‘The Sinnerman’ from TVNZ’s The Chase, Alistair Barrie, an outspoken comedian who is promising, in his show, to cure all the world’s problems in just 60 minutes through the medium of comedy, plus Tom Houghton, a comedian who actually does live in The Tower of London and recent Live at the Apollo star, Brennan Reece.

And, to keep the English honest, we welcome Chris Henry, a Scottish Comedian of the Year nominee.
8 International guest comedians, 1 huge show, 1 night only.
