42nd National Youth Jazz Competition

Young Jazz Stars of the future compete for trophies and glory!

The 42nd National Youth Jazz Competition showcases the very best of emerging jazz players from secondary schools across New Zealand from Friday 5 April to Saturday 6 April 2019, at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre, Tauranga.

For 2019 the National Youth Jazz Competition will occur two weeks prior to the 57th National Jazz Festival being held at Easter, due to the timing of Easter and school holidays.

There are two days of competition and a special concert on Friday 5 April featuring South Island jazz masters Sumo Jazz with guest judges Dr Rodger Fox, Dr Dave Wilson and Dixon Nacey.

Make sure you buy tickets and support these young jazz stars of the future as they compete in Big Bands and Combos for trophies, prizes and awards.
